Who knew that OJ Mayo would take his name literally. He was suspended for 10 games for testing positive for Dehydroepiandrosterone aka “Juice” aka “Steroids”.
I just don’t get it. I always thought about the usage of performance enhancing supplements amongst NBA players. Especially when you see the physicality of players like Lebron James and Dwight Howard.
But OJ Mayo? He is a not exactly physically intimidating. Of course the evolution of steroids has progressed from what we stereotype the results as. Players have used them to get that extra “kick” or to recover faster from injuries.
It will be interesting to see if the league digs deeper into the potential use of performance enhancements amongst other players, especially the NBA’s elite.
