Throwback Video Of The Week

I know this is primarily a sports blog, more specifically a basketball inspired one. Hip-Hop depending on your age and upbringing has pretty much been the Ying to the NBA’s Yang *pause* since it’s inception. Thats why I feel its only right to have a weekly “ThrowBack Of The Week Video”..  More after the jump.

The U.M.C.’s “Blue Cheese” is my first selection for many reasons. It would be easy to select one of many classic songs/videos that everyone is familiar with but to show my true roots to hip-hop, I thought I go a little bit deeper. It was also one of my favorite songs the year it was released, plus they had the dope Nike Airmax I always wanted back in 1991. This single and album was released on the now immortal Wild Pitch records which also had great artists like Lord Finesse, Main Source and Gangstarr to name a few. Its from an era when everyone had their own sound and did not concentrate on making “hit records” just good music. Enjoy!
